The Eureka Centre is located at the site of the 1854 Eureka Stockade and is home to one of Australia’s most compelling historic artefacts – the Eureka Flag.
At the Eureka Centre, we explore the social history and cultural impact of the Victorian goldrush and honour the stories of the men and women who risked their lives in the fight for miners’ rights.
The Eureka Centre encourages young people to engage with Australia’s colonial history through its Eureka Education programs. We provide teachers and students with tools and experiences to deepen their understanding of the Eureka Stockade and the profound political reforms that followed.
Led by professional educators, these programs give students and teachers the opportunity to view the original Eureka Flag and explore the interactive Eureka Stockade exhibition. The programs are designed to deliver curriculum outcomes in History, Civics and Citizenship and English, and can be delivered to students in early childhood, primary, secondary and VCAL.
Education visits to the museum can be adapted to meet the specific curriculum needs of individual groups. Speak to our Education Officer to discuss tailoring programs that will better complement and extend your classroom learning.
