The most valuable learning experience for both students and teachers who visit the Australian War Memorial is to participate in one of the facilitated programs. These programs can assist students to remember, interpret and understand the Australian experience of war and its enduring impact on society. Australian War Memorial Education staff use hands-on objects and fascinating stories to engage students and promote interactive discussion. All programs are linked to Australian curriculum profiles for History, English, Visual Arts, Science and Technology.
All of the Memorial’s other galleries will remain open and alternative First World War content will be displayed in other galleries. Please note that all education programs will continue to run. Programs based on First World War content will simply be broadened to include other conflicts and themes.
Bookings are essential for all visits and activities, including education programs, school wreath-laying ceremonies, and Discovery Zone sessions.
Check out the student activities and learning resources available for use in the classroom, now available on the Memorial’s website, under Education.
