School Excursions Australia

Australian National Botanic Gardens

Join us in our living classroom to discover Australia’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Explore the connections between people, plants and animals through inquiry based exploration and hands-on learning experiences.

Students can engage with one third of Australia’s plants species and a wide range of Australian ecosystems on our 35 hectare site. Investigate the adaptations of Australian rainforest plants as you walk up the east coast from Tasmanian to Queensland in our Rainforest Gully. Compare the arid mallee to the alpine region and how they differ to our grasslands.

Discover the connections between people, plants and animals through enquiry-based explorations and hands-on learning experiences. Our programs develop students’ skills as active and informed environmental citizens.

Programs are curriculum based and available for pre-school through to tertiary students. We cater for students with special needs or disabilities and the Gardens is wheel-chair accessible.

Twilight tours are also available.  In an after dark experience of the Gardens you can shine a torch and search for creepy crawlies in the rainforests and go spotlighting for nocturnal wildlife in the treetops.  Afterwards, the students can reflect on their findings with their guides over Milo and biscuits.

Bookings Are Open Now for 2025 and 2026!
