The NSW Corrective Services Museum traces the history of the penal system in Australia from the first convicts to the modern prison system.
From the convict in his swaying hammock on the prison ship on his way to the new colony in NSW, to the modern depictions of prison life in a small cell, the story is made real with photographs, documents and displays. The tour guide will take you through the 200 years of history and give insight to the life of prisoners through the ages.
The Museum also includes a large range of inmate art and craft available for sale.
Located next to the Gaol the Museum is open each afternoon except Sunday and Monday.
